What Is Quality Assurance?

Quality assurance include all those planned and systematic actions necessary to provide adequate confidence that a product or service will satisfy given requirements for quality.

Quality assurance within an organization acts/serves as a management tool. On the other hand, in contractual situations, quality assurance also serves to provide confidence to the customer.

Quality assurance requires continual evaluation of factors that affect the adequacy of the design, specification, verification, and audits of production, installation, and inspection operations.

To provide confidence implies that producing evidence for effectiveness may be a requirement. Quality assurance is complete ONLY when the requirement reflect the needs, wants, and expectations of the user.

Quality assurance always focuses on and emphasizes the planning of quality as opposed to the appraisal of quality.
