Receiver's Role in the Communication Process
The receiver is the person or group of persons who receives the message sent by the senderOpens in new window. This person can also be referred to as the recipient or destination of the information.
The receiver is responsible for making sense of the message. The meaning of the message must be decodedOpens in new window by the receiver before it can be absorbed and received by the brain. Only once the receiver has decoded the message and has gathered what he or she understands b the message, can an action take place.
